The Valóság periodical was established in 1958 with a social sciences educational purpose. It was previously - and for some, it still is - a defining fixture of the mindset of the Hungarian intelligentsia and for many, it was falsely the embodiment of 'scientific' norms. Nowadays, Valóság is a social science educational periodical which represents tried and tested values instead of (daily) politics – accordingly shaping its staff of authors and content.
