ITU Telecom World 2019
Magyar Posta is issuing a regular promotional stamp with a label entitled ITU Telecom World 2019 to mark the conference to be held in Budapest between 9 and 12 September 2019. 175,000 copies of the philatelic novelty made by printing on the label part of the Very Own Stamp personalised stamp were produced by the banknote printing company Pénzjegynyomda and can be purchased at Filaposta and designated post offices or ordered from Magyar Posta’s online store from 9 September. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is an agency of the United Nations specialised in telecommunications. Hungary was a founding member in 1866 and the Union currently embraces a total of 196 countries. The annually held ITU Telecom World conference is returning to Budapest after the last conference in the Hungarian capital in 2015. The conference focuses on the latest technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, smart city solutions and digital literacy. In keeping with the Union’s image, the colours of the new issue are blue and white. The label, the first day cover and the postmark all feature the logo of the conference in Budapest and symbols of digital data transmission.
