Magyar Posta is issuing a thematic personalised stamp to mark the 20th Temafila Stamp Exhibition. Nine thousand one hundred copies of the stamp with a label designed by the graphic artist Anita Laczkó were produced. The Thematic Section of the National Federation of Hungarian Philatelists (Mabéosz) is staging its 20th stamp exhibition between 27 and 29 August 2021 in the Petőfi Sándor Secondary School in Pápa. The section was founded in 1957 as an organised Motif Collecting Section, which, following a change of name, has been called the Thematic Section since 1990. The section organises and stages exhibitions annually, and its duties include helping youth stamp collectors and organising further training. Its members regularly take part in Hungarian and international exhibitions with good results. The town of Pápa, which provides the venue for this year’s exhibition, is the second largest town in Veszprém County. The town is renowned for its numerous churches, the Esterházy Palace, the Reformed College, and the Indigo Dyeing Museum. As an industrial monument unique in Europe and Hungary’s only museum specialising in indigo blue dyeing, it presents the entire work process of the craft. Visitors can get to know the secrets of this complicated procedure and learn that this is a flourishing trade far from being on the verge of disappearance. Indigo blue dyeing was entered on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage in November 2018. The label for the stamp depicts a motif of the Indigo Dyeing Museum in Pápa and the town’s coat of arms. The special postmark shows the façade of the Petőfi Sándor Secondary School in Pápa, which is hosting the event.
