The Fundamental Law of Hungary entered into force 10 years ago FDC
Magyar Posta is issuing a souvenir sheet to mark the 10th anniversary of the Fundamental Law of Hungary entering into force. Together with the standard edition, an imperforated edition and, as part of the exclusive set, a likewise numbered limited monochrome edition are also being released. The new issue, the work of the designer Attila André Elekes, was produced by ANY Security Printing Company and will be released on 10 January 2022. The new issue is available from Filaposta, philately specialist services, certain post offices and www.posta.hu. The Fundamental Law of Hungary is the country’s highest legal source. As a pillar of national unity, it lays down the rules of our social coexistence, expresses the role of Christianity in holding together our nation, and regards the family and the nation as the mainstays of our coexistence. Thus the Fundamental Law is not only the foundation of the country’s legal system, but also an alliance between “the Hungarians of the past, present and future”. It is a living framework that expresses the will of the nation, and the foundations of our existence and our mission. It entered into force 10 years ago, on 1 January 2012. The frame of the souvenir sheet shows the inner dome of the Parliament building with the Hungarian coronation insignia in the foreground, of which the Holy Crown is featured on the stamp. The Hungarian coronation insignia is one of the most complete, extant medieval sets of regalia in Europe. Additional elements which appear on the souvenir sheet under UV light include the opening line of the national anthem. The commemorative first day cover and stamp set for the souvenir sheet depict interior and exterior details of the Parliament building. The main element of the commemorative postmark is the section sign combined with the number ten to mark the anniversary. The stamp set entitled “The Fundamental Law of Hungary entered into force 10 years ago” contains perforated, imperforated and monochrome editions of the commemorative souvenir sheet. The last of these may only be purchased in this compilation.
