Hungarian Heritage Award 2025 – Stamp Museum - thematic personalised stamp
In 2025, Magyar Posta is issuing a stamp with a label to celebrate the Stamp Museum, which received the Hungarian Heritage Award at a ceremony held at the Ráday House on 29 March 2025. Twelve thousand two hundred and fifty copies of the thematic personalised stamp designed by the graphic artist Imre Benedek were produced. The new issue may be purchased at Filaposta, philately specialist services and www.posta.hu while stocks last. The Hungarian Heritage Award was established in 1995 on the recommendation of Balázs Farkas, György Fekete, and Imre Makovecz, and has been administered by the Hungarian Heritage and Europe Association since 2003. The Award can be presented to individuals and institutions whose activities contribute to the enhancement of Hungarian culture, science, economy, and moral values, together forming the “invisible intellectual museum” of the Hungarian people. Anyone can be nominated and the winners are selected by a jury from the nominees proposed by members of the public. Ceremonial cultural events are held four times a year, and seven awards are presented on each occasion. Founded in 1930, the Stamp Museum keeps the most important collection of Hungarian and international philately, faithfully preserving national values and the history embodied in stamps. The museum helps preserve culture, knowledge, and memory across generations. The Hungarian Heritage Award is due recognition for its more than nine decades of work, during which the Stamp Museum has become the custodian of the past and the builder of the future. The stamp issue now pays tribute to this spirit, as a symbol of the intertwining of philately, culture and national heritage. (Source: magyarorokseg.hu, Stamp Museum) The elements featured on the thematic stamp with a label issued in honour of the Stamp Museum are the Hungarian Heritage Award’s Golden Book with the Holy Crown of Hungary on its front cover and the Stamp Museum’s special exhibition hall. The postmark shows a detail of the Hungarian Heritage Award logo, which features the Holy Crown of Hungary.
